After a long stop (and slight detour) in Hope Valley, I came across this huge field of (soy beans?)
There was clear marker for the “North” but pretty much nothing for the “south”
I spent 3-4 hours in Arcadia with a big chunk of that time heaving my bike over miles of man-sized granite boulders. It was ridiculous. As if the “small” rock gardens weren’t enough. I’m fairly certain I got stuck on “hiking only” trails…but it was never obvious were those started, nor how to get around them.
Nearly waterless, I was thankful to finally emerge from that section of the park.
While there were the typical seasonal “campers” through-out the park, we were the only ones at “Hide-Away Cove” with a tent.
Gorgeous fern swamp forest with dreaded rock garden
From the north the NS via the “The North South Trail” book is non-obvious. It took us quite a bit of back-tracking and hoping and GPS and book stops to figure it out.
But that’s part of the adventure!
